Preserve chat between character changes
I believe chat should be preserved when you don't logout but instead switch characters.
'Nuff said.

/Signed, totally agreed 100%
Another thing is zoning too...
Those 1-3 seconds of chat that you miss when zoning can be a real conversation killer, especially when you're raptor farming and zoning twice every minute :/

its a great idea, but they should limit it.
U should be able to keep text typed in the past 3-5minutes
That is because say u log on a monday, and u didnt play on sunday, u will still have saturdays chat if they dont limit it, and that can be annoying.

They already have that limited time duration that you're referring to.

/NOT SIGNED!!!!!111oneoneone
i'm essentially not agreeing just because that would be conformist!!! and i enjoy being a rabble riser...rabblerabblerabblerabblerabble.
but if it weren't for all of that i'd have to honestly say that yes, this is one of the better player ideas out there

Maybe they could add a checkbox in the options menu in case someone wants to disable/enable this.

I've missed soooo many messages that appeared just when I did the quick usual F12+C character change that I would pay in ectos for such an update.
It shouldn't require any major technical upgrades of the game - the whole chat can even be preserved client-side!

There is already a limit on how much chat is saved, even while you're perpetually logged in. I'm not sure if it goes by lines or time, but chat isn't saved indefinitely.
Furthermore I'm not saying chat should be always preserved, just when you do F12+c. If you log out, you lose chat.

It's a bit annoying losing conversations just for changing characters.
Last chat log should be saved until log off, at least Local, Guild, Alliance and Whisper lines.
